After starting off the week with the release of her new theme song for all AKA probates happening this fall Cashin’ Out remake “Ivy’d Out,” Miss Mykie hit us this Thursday with her newest leak from her forthcoming #NoReceipt project, the remix for “For My City.”

Some of you may remember the original “For My City,” a standout from Mykie’s That Pink, That Green Vol. 2 album that featured the singer going in over the instrumental to the classic Houston anthem “June 27th.” While the same verses from the original make their way onto the remix – including the still relevant line, “I am so major, without a major deal/ and if I had a major deal/ they would hate me still” - but the remix benefits from two new additions: the song’s beat has been slowed down, allowing for Mykie’s lines to stand out with more clarity; and a guest verse from Killa Kyleon, who, at one point, lays down a set of lines related to colors that concludes by offering up a very different version of “pink and green” that’s both comical and clever.

Miss Mykie’s #NoReceipt mixtape, presented by Kiki J and mixed by DJ Young Samm, is due out later this summer.

In the most relaxed sense, Curren$y’s nature to bring out flutes and laid back weed rhymes is absolutely unmatched. Luxurious and plush, “Capitol” feels like a hazy party where Ron Burgundy is playing for your enjoyment, Spitta is finishing off a baseball bat sized blunt rolled by 2 Chainz who continues his monstrous streak of enjoyable features.

Disco queen Donna Summer who popularized the disco era of music with her hits “Bad Girls”, “Hot Stuff” and her comeback hit “She Works Hard For The Money” died today in Florida, TMZ reports. The 63-year old, 5-time Grammy award winning singer had been battling lung cancer and was reportedly finishing up her new album.

New York’s Emilio Rojas swooped into Houston earlier this month for a stop on his Breaking Point tour to a more than receptive crowd at the Engine Room. While most normal show recaps would involve the nuances of the crowd and what not, this recap shot by Grant of SCKNOWS captures the moments before, after and druing a show from flying in to a city, an in-store meet and greet at SF2, the actual on the road randomness such as airing up tires and of course, actual performing. Grant might as well begin shooting documentaries for all the visual effort he puts in.

Diddy is in a class by himself when it comes to aggressive moments of grandeur and straight up shit talking. He’s almost like Ric Flair combined with the Rock with a dash of Mississippi pimp thrown in and he’s in rare form on Future’s remix of “Same Damn Time”. Never mind his contribution as it’s the same verse and dance as before but focus on Diddy’s outlandish claims that he snaps up Maybach’s like white T-shirts. Luda’s here too sending jabs but we know who the star of the show is. I’m curious, what if your life was narrated by Diddy?

Adult Swim already gave us a bone when they said Toonami was coming back on May 26th and that the “Black Dynamite” cartoon was happening and premiering sometime soon but no news is as big as their biggest show returning for a fourth season.

Somehow, Nas has the same genes that inhabit Pharrell Williams and a host of others. They don’t age, ever. Nas is closer to 40 but looks 19 when he stands next to Nicki Minaj as her love interest for the “Right By My Side” video directed by Benny Boom and if the initial shock hasn’t worn off yet, the video itself will leave you even more confused.

Six weeks into it’s run on the shelf, Pink Friday 2: Roman Reloaded hasn’t even cracked the gold plateau yet with this being the closest thing to a urban pop smash on there. If Chris Brown’s suaveness and Nas’s debatable win or loss here isn’t enough to rocket it past the top then we might have to start writing that the world was Minaj fatigued and the whole paint-by-numbers concept of RR should send her back to the drawing board of mixing rap & pop and then proceeding to toss a glittery colored wig rocket at it.

Unexpectedly, Donald Glover released a few thoughts on his Twitter page this afternoon in some sort of personal stream of consciousness that the do-everything man rarely does. It ended up revolving around his newfound importance as a rapper and a voice for people (which isn’t a stretch by any means, see the reaction many had to the Trayvon Martin line on “Eat Your Vegetables”). After the smoke cleared, he debuted his redesigned website I Am Donald complete with a new track, and a letter from the world’s most noted web personality/Ghostface circa ’03 impersonator Big Ghost Fase.

The Washington Post has confirmed that D.C. go-go pioneer Chuck Brown has passed away from pneumonia at Johns Hopkins University hospital.

He was 75.

Brown’s percussion based sound laid the foundation for Washington D.C.’s signature sound, evident on his hit single “Bustin’ Loose” which spent four weeks atop the R&B charts in 1978. He was recently nominated for a Grammy in 2011 for “Love”, a collaboration between he, singer Jill Scott and bassist Marcus Miller.
