The Day A.B.N. Reunited

December 27, 2011 in Live Performances

Asking how it happened or why it happened is of no real concern. Just know that after starting out in Guerilla Maab, Trae Tha Truth & Z-Ro have never and I repeat, never shared a stage together. That is, until last Thursday when amber waves crashed, guttural rapid fire flows were immediately dropped, at least half the crowd took the Westside dub & flipped it upside down for allegiance to Mo. City and a good 2,000 people, most of whom may have been white wanted to tell the tale that they survived The Return Of The Assholes concert at Warehouse Live.

Solo cuts, A.B.N. cuts, a throng of fans all ecstatic to hear Z-Ro be the moody loner that he is and Trae the outward persona of the streets combine forces for a greater good. Pimp C’s mother was there, Bun B delivered a rousing speech and the two went on for a good hour and a half of tape ready anthems signifying pain, struggle, success and every idiom in between. Most somber? That the entire stage kept the memory of Money Clip D alive by wearing tribute letterman jackets. Longhorn Hip-Hop was there with the footage so sit back for about ten minutes and reminisce on the undervalued impact both Trae Tha Truth & Z-Ro have had on your lives.

Drake’s “Club Paradise” North American Tour Dates in 2012

December 14, 2011 in Live Performances, News

With Take Care all but poised to be on many “Best of” lists for 2011 and much anticipation building for his forthcoming collaboration YOLO with Officer Ricky Rick Ross, Drake is definitely riding a high into the new year. And what better way to keep the momentum going, than by going on tour.

While its namesake wasn’t fortunate enough to end up on Take Care, Aubrey’s “Club Paradise Tour” was one of the most coveted yet limited engagements of 2011. Drake teamed up with Kendrick Lamar and A$AP Rocky to hit only a few select cities in 2011, so you either made it or you didn’t. Thankfully, however, the tour will be extending itself into 2012, so those of you who didn’t get to catch it the first go round have no excuses a second chance. The gang hits Texas twice in February in two college towns – sadly, no love for the H – but that gives you ample time to bump Take Care, #Section.80, and LIVELOVEA$AP to where you’ll have memorized enough lyrics to not be the awkward person at the concert who’s just there to look cool bobbing their heads.

Peep the tour dates after the jump.

Last Night, America Met Das Racist

November 29, 2011 in Live Performances, TV

If you’ve followed Das Racist pretty closely then you know they really don’t care about national perception or perception period for that matter. Conan O’Brien obviously took notice to the NYC group and had them perform “Michael Jackson” on his late night show last night. When America’s first reaction to you is seeing your complete lack of regard for anything, they usually eat it up and beg for more. Having a horrible Michael Jackson impersonator wild out while you take to your instruments? Icing on the cake.
