Next month, Jack Freeman will establish his own definition of love. Before then, the Houston crooner shares a smooth new single in “Right Here.”

Can you believe it’s been over a year since Jack Freeman last released an album? And technically longer than that, if you consider the Houston crooner’s ‘Spotless Mind’ Sides A & B extended plays as opposed to LPs.

It really doesn’t feel that way. That’s because, despite not releasing solo projects, Jack Freeman never stopped working. His unmistakable voice shone brightly as a feature on some of the best drops out of Houston over the past few months – from DeLorean’s ‘Take Me Back,’ Killa Kyleon’s ‘Lorraine Motel’ and Yves’ ‘Don’t Panic’ last year, to Slim Thug’s ‘The World is Yours’ back in December and most recently, Lil’ KeKe’s ‘SLFMADE 2’ last week. Not to mention, he sort of started a podcast as well.

But 2018 is proving to be a really good year for R&B – a year that’s perfect timing for a Jack Freeman release. Jack seems to think the same. That’s why he took to Twitter on Friday night to reveal a triple-whammy of news. He’s got a concert coming up in Houston in September. He has a new single out in “Right Here.” And mostly importantly of all, he has a new album, ‘Define Love,’ set to drop just in time for the summer lovers next month. In a sense, Jack insists the record is his way of making peace with an emotion that’s guided so many of his actions.

“My letter to you on August 24th is everything I found out about (love) along the way,” Freeman shared in a poem on the album’s roll-out website. “The good and the bad. The happy and the sad. And I still don’t know shit about you.”

Jack Freeman and guitars have always been a winning formula, but there’s something special about “Right Here.” Maybe it’s the vulnerability in Freeman’s lyrics, in lines like, “You can have it any way/ and I want you to come over, and take away my pain.” Maybe it’s in how “Right Here” eases towards sounding like classic Al Green while staying contemporary, too. Or maybe it’s because the song hits that sweet spot between needy and hungry that many listeners will be familiar with – a four-minute rumination on a fix that only one person can cure.

Take a listen to Jack Freeman’s “Right Here” single, as well as previous single “Beautiful,” for yourself below. Although Jack’s ‘Define Love’ LP won’t touch down until August 24, you can pre-order the LP on iTunes now and get both tracks as a bonus, or pre-order the vinyl if you’re feeling especially old school.
