Here are my thoughts on Virgil Abloh’s premiere line. ::Spoiler Alert:: I like it.

This is D3 The Concrete, bringing you fashion from the street.

This is going to be a short, sweet and to the point article, addressing what I think about the Spring 2019 line of Louis Vuitton. I dig it and here are the reasons why:

First, it is appealing. As can be seen about (from the many pics that are available online), the clothes actually look cool. Many times, high fashion that attempts to be streetwear is hardly practical and doesn’t look good at all. These pieces look cool.

Secondly, though it has no bearing on the clothes, I like the fact that he used a good deal of people of color for his models. That shows growth and diversity in his mind and shows that he probably will do this more often, with potential to change the paradigm.

Finally, it’s original. For a long time, Virgil has built his brand off of being Kanye’s right hand man. That can be an unnecessary crutch. Also, many of his pieces were “heavily” inspired by other brands, so much and so that it could be interpreted that he was trolling the fashion industry, and daring us to call his bluff.

The Louis Vuitton stuff is something different. This is something that came from his mind and thus, is an independent thought. That is a great sign of things to come. (The colors, oh the colors!) Unfortunately, I probably will not be able to afford any of it, but if you can afford it, then please support it.
