Jay-Von’s newest freestyle may be over “It’s All About The Benjamins,” but it’s all about wanting all the smoke.

“Ya’ clothes don’t fit! Ya’ hoes ain’t thick!”

Jay-Von has definitely settled into his Freestyle Friday series. The Mo. City emcee has remained consistent with sharing a new freestyle over a throwback record for months now. After getting his R&B on a little bit with SWV’s “Can We” record, Von gets back to the hip-hop beats on his latest freestyle, over Puff Daddy & The Family’s “It’s All About The Benjamins.”

Unlike freestyles past, however, where Vonzilla took over the track entirely, the Picture My Vision rapper shifts form for “All About The Benjamins Freestyle.” With DJ MoSama keeping watch, producers Relli and George Young do justice with bringing back Puff and D-Dot’s horns and hard-hitting drums for Von to do work for a minute and a half. But the emcee inserts himself into the “It’s All About The Benjamins (Remix)” on this freestyle: the record begins with the final lines from Lil’ Kim’s verse before Von takes the baton from her like The Notorious B.I.G. did, right down to mimicking Big’s bars to start things off. The freestyle even closes by slowing down Puffy’s hook in a homage to DJ Screw.

But for all the nostalgia it may draw up, Jay-Von clearly has someone in his crosshairs on this freestyle. No names are directly mentioned, but the shots are so targeted that maybe they don’t need to be. “My money wrapped tight – don’t push me, p*ssy,” Von snarls, doling out insults and questioning the audacity of anyone who might come at him. He jabs at the competition’s style and scoffs at their raps compared to his own. He also rewrites the rap Bible, reminding listeners of the REAL First Commandment: “Thou shalt not f*ck with Von!”
