“My House of Pain – I open the door, and lean on the wall…”

Earlier this year, Mike Checc dropped off ‘The Checc In,’ arguably one of the best mixtapes out of the city of Houston. It was a fitting introduction to the emcee for those not yet familiar with him, a mix of both rappity raps and radio-friendly records held together by Mike’s vivid storytelling and unflinching honesty.

While some might be content to let their project breathe, Mike Checc is far from done with 2018. The rapper has launched a new campaign, “#ThisMyBeatNow,” with plans to spend the next ten weeks flexing his lyrical muscles with something new. And Young Nudy and 21 Savage’s “Since When” instrumental is the first beat to get Mike Checc’s freestyle treatment.

From the minute Mike opens the freestyle by saying his peers “take me for a joke” and following up with a “HA!” it’s apparent Checc is checked all the way in. He recounts his come up, going from being frustrated with God for “not giving me what I want” to being comfortably able to handle things financially. He brags that he gives the paparazzi a reason to take notes. And Mike even tucks in a hilarious reference to tricking towards the freestyle’s end (“throwin’ the p*ssy, just want the money – you knew what it was”).
