EDF and Slim Thug make the sticky great again on “Gas (In My Car) Remix,” produced by GnB.

Near the close of 2017, EDF released ‘Original Playa,’ arguably the Houston rapper’s strongest album to date. Produced entirely by Platinum Hands, ‘Playa’ displayed EDF’s lyrical prowess over the kind of instrumentation that called to mind old-school H-Town rap.

While ‘Original Playa’ is still getting plenty of rotation, EDF is already plotting for his next move. He has another album, ‘Westheimer Superstar,’ in the works; and now the Original Playa Records ambassador has shared the LP’s lead single, “Gas (In My Car) Remix,” featuring none other than Slim Thug.

Slim bats lead off on “Gas (In My Car) Remix,” pledging allegiance to “that sticky marijuana” and stunting on listeners in the process. “It depends on which car,” Thugga raps, implying that the green in his possession is as diverse as his garage. EDF takes the baton in the second verse, shouting out his stomping grounds of Third Ward and depicting himself as half-marijuana connoisseur, half ideal salesman. In the same way that he’s in the zone whenever he’s in the booth, EDF insists that he can’t be stopped when he’s “got that gas in [his] spaceship.” Toss in some solid production from GnB, who use guitars and snares on a loop to create the hind of audio haze that’s a smoker’s dream, and the “Gas (Remix)” is too smooth to resist lighting up to.

Take a listen to EDF’s “Gas (In My Car) Remix,” featuring Slim Thug, for yourself down below. Although the emcee’s ‘Westheimer Superstar’ album won’t release until later this summer, you can grab the “Gas (Remix)” off iTunes now.
