“Push Back,” the first single from Ne-Yo’s upcoming #GoodMan LP, has the singer linking with Bebe Rexha and Stefflon Don for a solid dancehall groove.

Ne-Yo is kicking off “#GoodManSeason” with a bang.

The singer-songwriter has taken it upon himself to launch a campaign to bring back records where men in R&B aren’t afraid to profess their love or beg their lady to stay. “#GoodManSeason” is more than just a movement, though: ‘Good Man’ is also the title of Ne-Yo’s upcoming album.

On Friday, Ne-Yo shared the first taste of ‘Good Man’ by way of a new single, “Push Back.” And it’s not quite R&B, but it’s absolutely one hell of an island groove.

Ne-Yo has Bebe Rexha (who is still riding the wave of her ‘All Your Fault, Pt. 2‘ EP) and Stefflon Don join him on “Push Back,” a nearly-four-minute number that’s upbeat and catchy, too. The premise is simple enough – guy sees girl at the function, girl sees guy at the function, and there’s instant chemistry so they decide to do something about it. “You got me lookin’ at you, lookin’ at you watchin,'” Ne-Yo croons, adding the slightest island inflection to his voice. Bebe Rexha picks things up in the second verse, telling the man that he “lights her on fire” and her seductive vocals stoking the fire further. That leaves Stefflon Don to close things out with sexy bars that maneuver between the beat with ease.

Both an ode to the island wine dance and a demonstration of Ne-Yo’s musical versatility, “Push Back” is too infectious to ignore. And you heard it here first: expect “Push Back” to get PLENTY of play at all the spring and summer day parties.
