Nashville songbird DAANI gets straight to the point on her latest single, “Two Hands.”

It’s time to get familiar with DAANI.

The Nashville, Tennessee born singer-songwriter, who started out as a jazz vocalist at New York’s The New School, has spent the last few years sharpening her vocals and perfecting her pen. Along the way, she shifted her focus from jazz to pop and pop&B, going so far as to brand her sound “electro soul.”

And while she’s toured and performed as a backup singer for the likes of Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, and The Roots, DAANI is now stepping out on her own. The singer’s music appeared in the trailer for the film adaptation of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay and she released her first EP last year. And DAANI is kicking off 2018 with a sassy new single, entitled “Two Hands.”

DAANI’s country influences trickle in and out of “Two Hands,” but that’s as far as the country sound goes. Producer Jeremy Claudio provides the track with an infectious, shimmering beat that calls to mind ’80s-era R&B, its tempo picking up during the hook and scaling back during DAANI’s verses. DAANI, meanwhile, makes the song flirtatious yet direct. “Don’t tell me that you need me/ when you’re just tryna take it slow,” the singer coos. She knows her lover is all she needs, and she knows her lover knows SHE’S all he needs. So why are they wasting time? DAANI may be committed, but she won’t wait too long: “open up your eyes – you gotta get your shit together!” she sings in the song’s bridge.

There’s something sexy about a woman who knows exactly who and what she wants. It just so happens that DAANI put that exact feeling in a song. DAANI has #ThePulse right now, and we look forward to seeing what’s next to come.
