Erva Carter "Sweetest Taboo" by Sade Cover

Erva Carter is back again with a visual to honor one of the greats – Sade Adu.

It’s like a #blackgirlmagic Inception today on the Interwebs as Erva Carter releases a visual cover for “Sweetest Taboo” by Sade Adu. Carter’s lower range is perfect for a Sade cover, reminiscent of the Nigerian-British singer’s style. Erva adds in her own style, effortlessly finishing off a couple soulful runs, but not diverting too much from the simplistic style of Sade. Carter explains in its description that Sade is one of her biggest inspirations, and from the sound of it, very influential in her music.

The visual is accompanied by an acoustic guitar played by JonoJono (@thisisjonojono) (much reminiscent of Sade’s all-male backing band) and is simplistic in nature, as it is intended to be a vignette – not letting us in on much of the story and leaving the words of the song to do the talking.

The cover was arranged by Carter, JonoJono, and 8Mos, and the visual stars Carter, Tyrone Griffin (@tyronegriffin365), and JonoJono, and was directed by Miriam Heads (@circa_1988).

End your cold day’s night by cuddling up with a boo (or a glass of wine) and press play on this smooth and sweet cover by Erva Carter.

Happy birthday, Queen Sade!
