Miguel and J.Cole reunite over Salaam Remi production for “Come Through And Chill.”

Four singles in and Miguel’s War & Leisure album is shaping up to be one of the year’s best. “Come Through And Chill” is a reunion effort of sorts as Miguel re-teams with the “All I Want Is You” tandem of J.Cole and Salaam Remi for more magic.

Sporting a repetitive, seductive guitar lick and sparse percussion, “Come Through And Chill” is about reigniting old flames. Cole’s patient like a Browns fan during a rebuild, even suggesting that his friend’s new beau probably couldn’t ever be a fan of his again. He ups the ante in his second verse, referencing Colin Kaepernick’s protest or Agent Orange constantly saying something slick. Miguel sings, “Hello, stranger / It’s been a minute since we last kicked it / By the way, I just got in town / That I won’t let cumulus clouds all in the sky ruin my vibe.”

Premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show, Miguel explained how “Come Through And Chill” came to be.

“We were kind of listening to the album and going through and trying to understand what we could add was tasteful but didn’t really dilute it too much or dilute the message or whatever. We just felt like Cole, it was just it was a good time to just get one of those back in and just to feel good. It just feels like home. Cole is always the perfect person to collaborate with that too.”
