Get some self-love and positivity in your life at “Love Yo’Self,” a showcase of emerging Houston artists and DJs.

This year, World Heart Day falls on a Friday. World Heart Day aims to bring attention to how making small changes, can create a big difference in terms of one’s personal health. Health might start with your body, but it continues by showing love to yourself and to others, as well.

That last part is what powers “Love Yo’Self,” a showcase of Houston creatives brought together to share good art and encourage self-appreciation. “Love Yo’Self” was curated by Raveen Alexis (whose “Positive Self Talk” movement was recently profiled by Houston creative collective Hustlegrade). In Alexis’s own words, “Love Yo’Self” is a chance to catch “Houston’s dopest performers, livest DJs, and coolest vendors gathering together to bring forth an energy that will change your life!”

Alexis chose artists who reflect the city’s consistently evolving musical culture to highlight at “Love Yo’Self.” The Aspiring Me will provide sounds for the evening. Flyger Woods, Izzar Thomas, and Lyssa will perform live performances. Additionally, DJs Jon Rambo and Morganne Niko will share their eclectic mixes. Couple the good music with vendors and a likely crowd of good people, and “Love Yo’Self” might be the ideal way to kick off the last weekend of September.

Oh, and remember that part about showing love to others? Well, a portion of the proceeds from “Love Yo’Self” will go towards Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. So attendees will not only get to enjoy themselves, but also get to give back to the city, as well.

“Love Yo’Self” goes down Friday, September 29th, at Avant Garden, 411 Westheimer Rd, from 7 PM to midnight. Tickets can be purchased either at the door or in advance for only $10 here.
