Maxo Kream and Lil Uzi Vert drug the world away on “Mars.”

Maxo Kream’s last few months have seen their share of highs and lows. The highs? Sharing the storytelling day-to-day approach of “Grannies,” and the chest thumping “5200.” The lows? Having to endure the bullshit of last month’s Harvey flooding, resulting in his mom losing her house. Nevertheless, the Kream Clicc leader has made certain that 2017 would be a memorable one for him rap wise, teaming with Lil Uzi Vert for “Mars.”

The woozy, melodic track arrives at a near perfect time for both Maxo and Lil Uzi. The latter saw his Luv Is Rage 2 album reach the summit of the Billboard charts and has clocked well over 200,000 copies sold. Maxo is still tinkering with that nimble, almost syncopated flow of his and Uzi’s brand of melody offers the perfect foil. Maxo’s singing a bit on “Mars,” lifting his head high while also chasing the pains away with Xanax, lean and more. Everything, from the plinking piano stabs to the track’s numbing drum arrangement work around Uzi’s chorus: “I did them Xannies on Earth, and woke up right there on Mars.”

Hear Maxo’s attempt to cope through the pain below.
