SZA surprises fans with her second contribution to the HBO show’s upcoming soundtrack.

SZA’s 2017 has seen nothing but highs. The TDE songstress scored one of the year’s more impressive debuts with CTRL and has a sold-out headlining tour. Now the St. Louis to Jersey singer has another smoldering throwback on her hands with “Quicksand.” Taken from the upcoming soundtrack for HBO’s second season of Insecure, you can hear the Motown-inspired now.

With the show’s second season coming to a close on Sunday, “Quicksand” makes perfect timing to arrive three days early. With brassy horns and a nimble hi-hat/snare combination, SZA sings “I’m scared of love / And you’re hard to trust.”

After spending an entire album (with a deluxe version on the way!) bobbing and weaving out of love, maybe SZA’s ready to make more uptempo, fun music. Already a master of woozy, seductive R&B, the “Supermodel” singer may have even more in store for us later this year. Stream “Quicksand” down below. The Insecure soundtrack, featuring “Insecure” from Bryson Tiller and Jazmine Sullivan along with music from Kari Faux, Buddy, GoldLink, Lion Babe, Jorja Smith, and Issa Rae is coming soon.
