On “Incapable,” Keyshia Cole Reminds Us How Much Love Can Hurt | @KeyshiaCole Bradford J. Howard August 25, 2017 MP3s, Music Keyshia Cole lays all her emotions out there on a new single, “Incapable.” Once upon a time, Keyshia Cole laid a legitimate claim as heir to Mary J. Blige’s “hurt anthems” throne. Her public drama aside, Cole could pour her entire heart out on a song and that resonated especially with female fans. But when her personal life and the negativity got too much to bear, the singer retreated from the music, focusing instead on family life and making herself better. Cole stepped back into the public eye this summer, however, when she joined the cast of VH1’s Love & Hip-Hop: Hollywood this season. Reality TV is nothing new for Keyshia. After all, she’d had two BET reality series prior to her appearance on LHHH. But the songbird is hoping to start fresh musically, as well. Cole has announced plans for a new album this year, slated to be entitled ’11:11 Reset.’ And on Friday, she shared the album’s lead single, “Incapable.” As its artwork implies, “Incapable” is inspired by old-school soul records. It might draw comparisons to Brandy’s “Beggin’ & Pleadin'” and Mary J. Blige’s “I’m Goin’ Down.” But it’s classic Keyshia Cole, spilling her emotions on the track. Keyshia is ever willing to try; but with every romantic opportunity that lets her down, she’s pushed further and further away.“You’re incapable, incapable of giving me that – incapable, incapable of loving like that!” Keyshia reflects somberly. “Incapable” reminds listeners that you can’t make somebody ready for love. They either are and it works; or they aren’t, and they’ll hurt somebody. Stream Keyshia Cole’s “Incapable” single for yourself down below. Though her ’11:11 Reset’ LP has no set release date just yet, you can grab “Incapable” now off iTunes.
