SZA’s third video from CTRL plays up to fairy tales, literally.

SZA’s CTRL album somehow only found the light of day thanks to somebody at Top Dawg Entertainment who forcibly decided the world needed to hear it. “They cut me off,” SZA told The Guardian. “They just took my hard drive from me. That was all. I just kept fucking everything up. I just kept moving shit around. I was choosing from 150, 200 songs, so I’m just like, who knows what’s good any more?”

Months after that jack move, we’re in a world where CTRL will more than likely end up on a few “Best Of” lists when the year is up. Where “Love Galore” took Kathy Bates’ idea of Misery to light and “Drew Barrymore” nabbed the titular character for a little summer fun in NYC, “Supermodel” dares to challenge the characters in our lives who help build up our insecurities.

The Nabil directed video finds our hero starring upon a man who ridicules her looks. He laughs at her from behind before she ducks off into a realm of fantasy. There are fairy children who blow magic pixie dust that allow the 25-year-old New Jersey via St. Louis singer to champion her looks to feel free and sexy. She and the kids eventually turn the table on her tormentor, tying him up to a flagpole while tossing firecrackers at his feet.
