Coming Attractions: The Return of #SocialChangeSundays (8/6) | @bornidentityP Bradford J. Howard July 27, 2017 Events “Sip in support of Houston changemakers” at the Social Change Sundays “Changemaker Edition” event in August. Some people consistently heed the call to serve. The Born Identity Project – the brainchild of Houston tastemaker and service-minded socialite Monica Jones – answers that call at least once a week. In addition to collaborating with numerous philanthropic organizations and events through the city of Houston, Born Identity Project also hosted a “give back” event of its own, aptly titled “Social Change Sundays.” One Sunday a month, the Project would assemble a half-panel, half-networking mixer, introducing fellow Houstonians to movers, shakers, and entrepreneurs in a social setting. Two Sundays from now, Born Identity will partner with Let’s Do This! Houston to revive its “Social Change Sundays” series for its first appearance of 2017. Branded the “Changemaker Edition,” this Social Change Sunday will highlight four important Houstonians and their causes: Maia Bean, founder of Modify; Blake Simon, founder of The Rise Above Project; F.E.A.S.T. founder Anthony Foreman; and finally, Roneshia Ray, the brain behind the Hierarchy Leadership Camp. The Hotel Ylem, a new boutique hotel in the downtown area that promotes non-profit organizations and provides space for philanthropically-minded creatives in the city, is the hosting venue. “(We wanted to) highlight various young professionals throughout the Houston community who have an unique philanthropic vision, lead by example, fostered a culture of giving and/or founded a nonprofit organization,” Born Identity Project said of the upcoming event. However, the “Changemaker Edition” of Social Change Sundays isn’t solely about highlighting others. It’ll allow attendees to contribute to the change, too. There’s a $15 donation to attend, which will go towards backing any of the four causes. Specialty cocktails will also be served at the event, with a portion of the profits going towards Hotel Ylem. It’s a perfect way to give back if you’ve been wanting to, but never had or made the time to. You can RSVP to Born Identity Project’s ‘Social Change Sundays: Changemaker Edition’ at the link here. It goes down on Sunday, August 5th, 2017, at the Hotel Ylem, 8080 Main Street, 77025. The event will start promptly at 5:30 PM.
