The Cali Cartel becomes the main focus for Narcos‘ upcoming third season.

Following the events of Narcos seasons 1 and 2, you know how the story ended. Pablo Escobar rose to power, alienated the government with narco terrorism and eventually found himself shot dead in his hometown. While many suspected that Narcos would end there, the show’s creators and Netflix is expanding their storytelling for season 3, which premieres on September 1st.

The Orejuela brothers, Miguel and Gilberto of the Cali Cartel assume power after the death of Escobar and run an empire that’s just as ruthless. “Cocaine cartels are about succession,” the teaser states and for the next 12 episodes, viewers are about to get a glimpse into the world of Cali, Colombia and the Cali Cartel.

Now the feds have a new target in their battle against narco-terrorism. We’ll see how this saga plays out when Narcos returns in the Fall.
