Kendrick Lamar’s latest DAMN. video is one of conflict, from all races and ages.

Kendrick Lamar’s videos for DAMN. have been pretty spectacular. First came “Humble” in early April, our official teaser that a new Kung Fu Kenny album was arriving. The spastic and enjoyable “DNA.” came next. While many expected the Compton rapper to drop the video for “Loyalty” featuring Rihanna, instead he swerves us all with a video to “Element.”

From the onset with a group of people standing in front of a burning house, “Element” is all about conflict and resolution. Lamar stands in some scenes with a blood splattered shirt and in others he can be found slapping a man on the ground in full Kung Fu Kenny garb. Conflict is abound in element, from men circling around one another engaged in a Worldstar style filmed fight to constant glares at police officers, Muslim women and more. The constant shift in images showcases one simple world view: we’re all entangled in a battle in some form or fashion. Black people and the police, the prison industrial complex and so on.

Watch the “Element” video from Kendrick Lamar up top. The DAMN. tour kicks off next month.
