Haley Smalls knows what the cure to her sweet tooth is on a new single, “Chocolate.”

2017 has proven to be a busy year for Haley Smalls thus far. The Toronto-hailing singer-songwriter began the year with a solid, dancehall-inspired single “Lie Pon Me.” And back in April, she shared a 10-track EP, ‘Heart of Gold.’

Last week, on New Music Friday, Smalls found herself in a giving mood and premiered a new single, “Chocolate,” for her fans.

Haley’s frequent partner-in-crime Megaman Music handles production, employing a snare-driven slow burn of an instrumental. On the four-minute cut, the Toronto singer-songwriter admits that she has a problem, hiding it in the guise of an adult lullaby. Her light vocals communicate her hunger and desire for a “fix” from her favorite flavor whenever she can get it. “I get addicted – it’s something I can not control,” Haley confesses at one point on the track. Toss in a clever reference to Usher’s “Nice & Slow” on the song and it’s clear the sweet thing she has a taste for, isn’t exactly candy.
