bryson tiller true to self

Tiller’s follow-up to 2015’s T R A P S O U L in True To Self is here a full month early.

Bryson Tiller‘s sophomore album was an unexpected Thursday night surprise. Not due out until June 23rd, “Pen Griffey” revealed his True To Self album in the wee hours of the morning. Earlier this month, Tiller shared three singles, “Somethin’ Tells Me”, “Get Mine” featuring Young Thug and “Honey”. Of the three, only “Somethin’ Tells Me” made the cut.

Produced by Boi-1da, T-Minus, Allen Ritter, WondaGurl, !LLMIND, and NES, True To Self is in Tiller’s eyes a more “upbeat” release than T R A P S O U L was. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Tiller harped on the decision making after performing plenty of his debut album in front of large crowds. “The first time around, I had never performed before,” Tiller said. “I’d never been in a lot of clubs and heard how my music sounded in these venues. I don’t want it to be a long slow concert, dull and boring, so I’ve got a lot of upbeat production on this one.”
