Episode 35 of Good Culture DFW’s Podcast tackles More Life, Kendrick Lamar, and more.

“We can’t be watering down hip-hop, for the sake of what’s hurting your feelings.”

For the first time in a while, our friends in Dallas on the Good Culture Podcast are without a special guest and left to their own devices on their first episode of April.

Don’t let the title fool you: this has nothing to do with the gang of Kenny, T-Lee, and L-Mac predicting an early exit for Cleveland Cavaliers in the upcoming NBA Playoffs (though it is a clever play of sorts on that song that reminded us Tyler, The Creator and Frank Ocean still make great music together). Rather, the Good Culture folks make up for lost time in Episode 35, recapping just a few of the things that happened in their three weeks’ absence. There’s a debate over Drake’s recent More Life playlist (“4422, like… that song is amazing.” “Yeah, it’s because it’s Sampha, not because it’s Drake!”). There’s reflection on Kendrick Lamar’s “The Heart Part 4” and “HUMBLE” (“if you on top of your game, you ain’t really gotta call out people”). There’s credit given to Joey Bada$$’s ALL-AMERIKKKAN BADA$$ LP.  There’s even critique of that whole Kendall Jenner commercial fiasco (“Speaking of the culture, I do not appreciate what the f*ck Pepsi TRIED to do!”) and of that orange-faced guy at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Worth noting: Kenny DOES break the news that Good Culture Podcast is gaining steam as a brand and “taking our show on the road.” DFW Good Culture is planning on stopping through a few select cities to record their show. We’re betting Houston is on that list. Take in the “BYEKING” episode of Good Culture DFW by listening here.
