freddie gibbs you only live 2wice cover

With You Only Live 2wice less than a week away, Freddie Gibbs shares a new leak from the project, “Alexys.”

Next week, Freddie Gibbs will finally release You Only Live 2wice, the rapper’s first project since being acquitted of rape charges overseas last year. Gibbs is not taking his new lease on life lightly, having laid his soul bare on “Crushed Glass” to start the month of March and having followed that with “No PRBLMS” just last week.

Tonight, on Dr. Dre’s “The Pharmacy” show on Beats 1 Radio, Freddie Kane shared the latest leak from 2wice, “Alexys.” If the track sounds a tad bit more soulful than the usual gritty Gibbs fare, that’s because KAYTRANADA and BADBADNOTGOOD joined forces to provide the beat. There’s a sense of triumph and emergence from struggle over the course of “Alexys’s” three-minute run length, as Gibbs boasts he’s “first place on his worst days” and vows to never again take his Black queens from granted.
