sampha npr tiny desk concert

For his first Tiny Desk Concert, Sampha performs choice cuts from Process.

Has your body adjusted to Sampha crushing all the buildings on “4422” from More Life? Not even a full 72 hours after that initial shock comes another one from the UK singer. NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series figured it was the perfect time to unleash Sampha’s intimate offering to the general public.

Taking select tracks from his Process debut album, Sampha got behind the piano (obviously) and performed “Plastic 100°C,” “(No One Knows Me) Like the Piano” and “Blood on Me”. Were there tears in the audience afterwards? Probably. Did somebody send an inadvertant text in regards to their emotions and being overwhelmed by it all? Definitely. Sampha’s voice, arguably one of the strongest in R&B is an instrument in and of itself. It builds and warbles to a certain pitch to bring everything out of you. The piano is purely icing on the cake.
