The Crunk Bracket, Day & A Dream puts the task of deciding the GOAT Crunk Anthem in the hands of our readers.

It’s March, and with that, comes the NCAA Basketball Tournament and the ensuing “March Madness” that follows making a bracket. Since the official tourney started last week and the Sweet Sixteen has already been decided, we here at Day & A Dream felt the time was right to launch a bracket of our own.

The late ’90s-early 2000s are responsible for the “Crunk” era: a time period when songs were made that would either take a club experience to the next level or bring out the inner ratchet in a listener. It’s because of folks like Lil’ Jon & The Eastside Boyz, Trick Daddy, Pastor Troy and even Dallas rapper Tunk, that some of the greatest “Crunk Anthems” came about. Many a college party, cookout, or house function woke up when songs like “Neva Scared,” “Southside da Realest,” and “No Problem” came bursting through the speakers.

But if you had to choose just ONE song to serve as the Greatest Crunk Anthem of All Time, what would you choose? COULD you choose?

Day & A Dream is going to tackle that task. But we need your help.

We’ve put together the first-ever Crunk Bracket, with a field of 40 songs selected to contend for the title of Greatest Crunk Anthem of All Time. Much like the NCAA Tournament, there are five regions, with eight total seeded songs per. Thanks to friend of the program DJ Wally Sparks, we have an all-Memphis region. And for the next week, the votes of the people will determine who advances until, on Monday, March 27th, the final three will go head-to-head to determine the GOAT. If you need a primer or a refresher, check our #CrunkBracket playlist over at Apple Music.

All voting will be done on our Twitter account – follow us here if you don’t already – by way of polls, with the “ballot” being open from 10 AM to 10 PM for each of the initial rounds, and Monday’s “championship” round lasting from 12 PM to 7 PM. Each of the chosen 40 songs (painstakingly narrowed down by our staff, save for Memphis) was placed into one of five regions:

Texas/Louisiana Region: either made by or featuring an artist from the state of Louisiana or Texas

Florida-Georgia Line Region: either made by or featuring an artist from the state of Georgia or Florida

Lil’ Jon Region: because the self-professed “King of Crunk” has hands everywhere in the crunk genre, and deserved his own region

Hands Region: so-titled because one errant move while this song was playing, might could cause a fight at the function

Memphis Region:  because Memphis has given us 8Ball & MJG, Three 6 Mafia and Playa Fly. Here are those matchups, btw.

(1) Three 6 Mafia, “Tear Da Club Up”
(8) Playa Fly, “Nobody”

(4) Three 6 Mafia, “Who Run It?”
(5) 8Ball & MJG, “Lay It Down”

(2) Three 6 Mafia feat. Young Buck & 8Ball & MJG, “Stay Fly”
(7) Tela feat. 8Ball & MJG, “Sho Nuff”

(3) 8Ball & MJG, “You Don’t Want Drama / Don’t Make Me”
(6) Tear The Club Up Thugs, “Slob On My Knob”

Check up top to peep the official Day & A Dream Crunk Bracket and begin plotting your selections accordingly. The Round of 32 commences Tuesday, March 21st, from 10 AM-10 PM CST.
