Thundercat is ‘Drunk’ off the music on his latest LP with Michael McDonald, Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell & more.

When Thundercat decided to title his latest album Drunk, he had a few skeptics. The lead single to the project, “Show You The Way” featured none other than yacht rock kings Michael McDonald & Kenny Loggins. Whatever type of astral funk Stephen Brunner was on, we were going to be privy to it one way or another. As it turns out, Drunk comes from a moment in life where Thundercat wants to do him – in every facet.

“I’ve always tried to hold true to what Erykah Badu and Flying Lotus told me: It has to come from an honest place,” Thundercat told RBMA Daily in January. “I feel like it’s a place that I’ve been in different ways, seen different angles of and it’s been a bit inspirational – the drinking. It has its ups and downs and everything, but I felt like it showed the human side of what goes on behind things, something that I see with all of my friends… I felt like it was kind of interweaved in the music culture.”

The follow-up to 2015’s The Beyond / Where The Giants Roam, the 23 (!) track album features none other than Kendrick Lamar (“Walk On By”), Pharrell and Wiz Khalifa. You can stream the album in full below via Apple Music and purchase it on Bandcamp.
