Hear Plata O Plomo, Remy Ma’s collaborative album with Fat Joe that marks her first album-length drop since her release.

“All The Way Up,” it seems, was only the beginning for Fat Joe & Remy Ma.

For weeks, Joe & Remy – who enjoyed her first big single since her release from prison – ran the radio and put New York back on the map with a major record, so major in fact, that it was nominated for “Best Rap Song” at the Grammys.

“All The Way Up” may not have taken home one of the golden gramophones, but it did set the stage for Fat Joe and Remy Ma to kick off 2017 with a brand new collab album, Plata O Plomo. The 12-track effort touched down on Friday at midnight.

Plata O Plomo bears features from French Montana, Sevyn Streeter, BJ The Chicago Kid, Kent Jones, The-Dream, InfaRed, RySOValid, and more. Even old-school classic singer Stephanie Mills shows up to join Remy and Joe to close out the album on outro track “Dreamin.” The LP is propelled forward by lead singles “All The Way Up” and the Ty Dolla $ign-assisted “Money Showers” (a shake joint song that literally sounds like it was lifted from the ’70s). There’s a feature on every track except one, “How Long,” which Joe and Remy hold down quite well as a duo.

But nothing else, Plata O Plomo lets fans know that Remy Ma hasn’t missed a step. She sounds hungrier than ever and her delivery is impeccable. Remy flourishes on “Cookin’,” for example, and keeps pace with Joe and then some on “Swear to God.” And while “Money Showers” is the favorite from the LP to pop up in the strip clubs, the Kingston-featured “Too Quick” is nothing to sleep on, either.

Plata O Plomo translates from Spanish to “silver or lead” – as in “take the payoff (silver) or get killed (filled with lead).”
The album title is a warning but the content itself isn’t threatening. Rather, it seems to say with finality that Remy and Joe will put on and keep going no matter what, and you can either willingly accept it or surrender to it.
