bj the chicago kid roses

A day before Valentine’s Day, BJ The Chicago Kid shares a new tune.

BJ The Chicago Kid is going to be alternating emotions come tomorrow. Sunday, the “His Pain” singer found himself empty handed at the 59th Annual GRAMMY Awards. He lost in three categories, “Best R&B Performance”, “Best R&B Album” and “Best Traditional R&B Performance”. It wasn’t as if he lost to complete strangers either. Solange earned “Best R&B Performance” for “Cranes In The Sky”. Lala Hathaway won the other two categories for “Angel” and Lalah Hathaway Live. The irony of Hathaway’s wins? BJ and her collaborated on “Angel” once upon a time.

Plus, BJ figures he’ll be at the big February ceremony as a nominee and eventual winner sooner rather than later. Which is why today, he borrows some familiar album art to approach a familiar subject. “Roses” comes on the eve of Valentine’s Day and BJ knows how the games go. “She knows how to keep me going playing in my hair,” BJ croons here, knowing full well he’s in love and nothing else.
