Ro James Shares “Holy Water” Visuals, Announces 2017 Tour Bradford J. Howard February 6, 2017 Music, Music Video, On The Road Ro James revisits his 2016 breakout LP Eldorado for his latest clip, “Holy Water.” Ro James knows a thing or two about temptation. The singer dropped his breakout debut LP, ElDorado, last summer, and right before that, James’ powerful vocals and hit single “Permission” were enough to have him brought along on tour with Maxwell. James excels at merging soul and funk, for a sort of R&B hybrid that bridges the gap between past and present. “Holy Water,” one of the standout cuts off ElDorado, was a perfect example of this, James’s melody coasting along over funky drums and a riding beat. Ro must have felt the track wasn’t getting the attention it truly deserved, as he’s dropped an official set of visuals for the song. The video mostly stays true to the lyrics themselves, as spiritual imagery – pictures of crosses and James crashing down into a bathtub as though he’s being baptized – clashes with worldly desires, namely the sensual touch from a pretty face. “Part of me feels like, for you/ I would give my soul, just to make you feel good,” Ro croons on the track, as he fights temptation. In the end, he ends up burying their love alive, though not quite in the way the viewer might think. Watch the visuals for Ro James’s “Holy Water” cut up top, and be sure to grab the artist’s ElDorado LP (on which “Holy Water” appears) now off iTunes. In addition, Ro James is hitting the road in 2017. You can peep the dates for the “Ro James XIX Tour” down below. Heads up: Ro touches down in Houston and Dallas on February 15th and 16th, at the Studio at Warehouse Live and Southside Music Hall, respectively.
