Chance The Rapper brings joy, Run-DMC tributes for ‘SNL’ Christmas special.

Let’s recap Chance The Rapper’s year, shall we? He stole the show on The Life Of Pablo with his “Ultralight Beam” verse. He got a Kit Kat endorsement. His May mixtape Coloring Book eventually earned seven GRAMMY nominations. He’s also on the Hamilton mixtape in a synergy of two dominating pop culture forces. Needless to say, Chance The Rapper exists in a pretty special realm right now.

After spending most of the week asking fans to help him with his Saturday Night Live set-list, Chance provided them with an answer. During the mid-season finale for SNL, Chance performed “Finish Line / Drown” and “Same Drugs”. Noname joined him for “Finish Line” and Francis & the Lights took over the piano keys for a rousing finish of “Same Drugs”. You can watch both performances below. Chance also participated in a skit for the 42nd mid-season finale, helping Kenan Thompson with a Run-DMC inspired Christmas send-off to President Barack Obama.

Saturday marked Chance’s third appearance at NBC’s famed Studio 8H at the Rockefeller Center. He appeared last December and premiered “Somewhere In Paradise” in December 2015 and guested for Kanye West’s “Ultralight Beam” debut earlier this year.
