Scott’s sophomore effort first Houston rap album to reach the feat since Paul Wall in 2005.

Travis Scott has his first number one album.

The Houston rapper’s sophomore effort Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight sold 88,000 equivalent units this past week (53,000 pure album sales). The album, released through Grand Hustle / Epic Records is the first album from a Houston rapper to bow at number one on the Billboard 200 since Paul Wall’s The People’s Champ reached the summit in September 2005.

Birds is the latest Apple Music exclusive released from Epic Records following Future’s EVOL album and DJ Khaled’s Major Key. Both of those albums also debuted at No. 1. Last year, Scott released his debut album Rodeo which landed at No. 3 selling 85,000 units (70,000 in pure album sales).

Elsewhere on the chart, Drake’s Views rises to No. 3 with 60,000 units sold. Rihanna’s ANTI shifts up 9 to the No. 8 spot with 30,000 units sold. Beyoncé’s Lemonade which was No. 2 last week is down 7 spots to arrive at No. 9 with less than 30,000 units sold. Frank Ocean’s Blonde descends 5 spots to no. 10 with 29,000 units sold.
