Mac Miller Goes Old School Soul for “We” [@macmiller @CeeLoGreen #TheDivineFeminine] Bradford J. Howard August 19, 2016 MP3s, Music Mac Miller dips into old-school soul on “We,” his latest drop from The Divine Feminine featuring Cee-Lo Green. It appears the goal of The Divine Feminine is to showcase Mac Miller’s more romantic side. The latest album from the Watching Movies with The Sound Off MC certainly has a female audience in mind, if its lead single “Dang” was an indication. Now, Miller has unveiled Divine‘s second single, “We,” and it’s just as smooth and seductive. Merging contemporary sound with throwback flavor and drawing cues from ’70s soul, “We” rides along over warbling guitars and laid-back drums. Miller’s flow is slowed down to an almost conversational style, as he explains wanting to take his mostly physical relationship with his woman to the next level. “This some sh*t I’ll right my wrongs to,” Miller promises. Feature Cee-Lo Green holds down the vocals on the song’s hook, crooning “Boo” on the heels of Mac insisting that the woman in his life “could be [his],” and also adding a smooth touch to “We’s” bridge. The five-minute track might well be a Cuffing Season playlist essential. Stream Mac Miller’s “We” single, featuring Cee-Lo Green, for yourself down below. Mac’s The Divine Feminine LP – on which “We” appears – is due out September and can be pre-ordered on iTunes now.
