Tom Herman & the University of Houston Cougars know their Houston rap history.

2016 is set to be another spectacular year for Tom Herman & the University of Houston in football. 2015 stood among the most successful in program history. They won the American Athletic Conference for the first time. They were undefeated until a late season loss to Connecticut. Most importantly, they beat Florida State in Atlanta in the 2015 Peach Bowl to finish 13-1.

2015 also showed us that Herman may be the most on the nose head coach in college football. Well, aside from Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh. During Herman’s first year on the job he got fitted for a grill by Paul Wall, Z-Ro among others sent a video salute to the 2016 recruiting class and more. Herman & the Cougars know Houston is a city to be cherished with a rap scene that has to be acknowledged and vice versa.

The Peach Bowl champs recently sat down with SBNation to play a little Houston rap trivia. During American Athletic Conference Media Days, Herman along with star QB Greg Ward, DE Cameron Malveaux and others were all grilled about the rap scene. Questions about Mike Jones, Bun B, Slim Thug & Scarface all popped up with Herman & company scoring pretty high.

The funniest moment? Herman getting asked about Slim Thug’s height. “I’ve stood next to the man and I’m gonna say he’s 6’5,” Herman tells SBNation’s Steven Godfrey. “We’ll ask Slim Thug to confirm,” Godfrey responds.

Herman & the Cougars open the 2016 regular season September 3rd against Oklahoma at NRG Stadium.
