Big Sean & Kendrick Lamar aim for verse of the year on DJ Khaled’s “Holy Key”.

DJ Khaled’s Major Key already has a popular radio cut in “For Free” with Drake. He already has a street single aimed to tear up the clubs in “I Got The Keys” with Future & Jay Z. “Holy Key”, Major Key‘s third single aims to be the most talked about rap song on the album. Featuring both Big Sean & Kendrick Lamar, the Cool & Dre-produced cut presses the “Go” button from its opening chords.

Longtime soul singer Betty Wright sounds more like Bobby Womack on “Holy Key” as Big Sean breaks down police brutality on his verse. “I hear a little bit of me in your favorite rappers,” Sean raps on the track. “If you shoot me, you gotta deal with a holy me,” he adds. Lamar, on the other hand, feels the need to dig even deeper for his verse. “Everything I touch may disintegrate into dust/ Everything I trust may dishonor me in distrust…” he leads off. Wright’s chorus roars from the opening notes, championing the angels and standing above strife & drama.

“Holy Key” was premiered on DJ Khaled’s “We The Best Radio” show on Beats 1 Radio Friday night, and you can stream the track below via Apple Music. Purchase “Holy Key” on iTunes. Khaled’s Major Key album arrives next Friday, July 29.
