During the 2016 Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, Rapsody revealed some pretty big news.

“I’m Jamla/Roc Nation,” she told the crowd. It’s unclear in what capacity she’s signed to the label but the deal has been confirmed by Jamla founder and owner 9th Wonder. Ironically enough, the 2016 Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival is currently being live streamed on TIDAL, the streaming and multimedia platform owned by Jay Z.

For Rapsody, it’s a banner move regardless if she climbs on the label from the artist perspective along with fellow Carolinian J. Cole, Jay Electronica & Rihanna. Or, she could possibly be there strictly for management ala Fabolous, Meek Mill & Big Sean. The North Carolina emcee has released several stellar projects over the years, both solo and as a member of the Carolina based outfit Kooley High. In 2012, she released her debut album The Idea of Beautiful and followed it up with two stellar mixtapes, She Got Game and Beauty And The Beast. In 2015, she guested on “Complexion (A Zulu Love)” on Kendrick Lamar’s critically acclaimed To Pimp A Butterfly.

Back in 2012, Rapsody previously met Jay Z in an office-lobby and hoped for another chance meeting with the legendary emcee. Backstage during the Magna Carta Holy Grail tour in 2013, she did just that and even gave Hov a CD according to Ambrosia For Heads.

Welcome to JamRoc. #Jamla #Rocnation
