Unexpected news from Titan Towers this afternoon as Roman Reigns, the guy who just two days ago was the WWE World Heavyweight Champion was suspended 30 days for his first violation of the WWE Wellness Policy. The news was confirmed by WWE.com.

WWE has suspended Joe Anoa`i (Roman Reigns) for 30 days effective immediately for his first violation of the company’s talent wellness policy.

Reigns issued a statement on Twitter regarding his suspension: “I apologize to my family, friends and fans for my mistake in violating WWE’s wellness policy,” Reigns tweeted. “No excuses. I own it.”

Reigns’ suspension makes all the sense in the world if you’re wondering why he dropped the belt to Seth Rollins at Money In The Bank this past Sunday. His suspension is effective immediately so he’ll be off television. There’s been plenty of rumors as to why Reigns no longer held the belt with not drawing enough at house shows being the main one. A wellness policy violation? The most unexpected of all reasons.

What that means for the Battleground main event is anyone’s guess as the event takes place on July 24th, almost an entire month from now. Reigns is schedule to take part of an all-Shield triple threat between he, Seth Rollins & current WWE champion Dean Ambrose in the main event.
