Watch the teaser trailer for the upcoming All Eyez On Me Tupac biopic.

Today, June 16th, is the birthday of Tupac Amaru Shakur. Had the poet-emcee-street prophet not been murdered, today would’ve marked his 45th year on Earth.

But today ought to be a celebration of Tupac’s life. It is, after all, officially Tupac Shakur Day in Oakland. The Left Coast won’t be the only ones remembering ‘Pac, however – because in a perfectly fitting twist of fate, on the belated rapper’s birthday, the official debut teaser trailer for the long-anticipated ‘Pac biopic, All Eyez On Me, was also premiered today to the world at large.

Bearing appearances from Hill Harper and Danai Gurira (as Tupac’s mother Afeni, whom we also lost this year), the teaser trailer surfaced on Instagram at the top of the morning by way of 92.3 FM Los Angeles radio personality Big Boy. It depicts everything from ‘Pac’s tumultuous relationship with LAPD, to the concerts, to the wild party life of Death Row Records. But most importantly, the trailer completely quiets any doubts that Demetrius Shipp, Jr. – the actor cast to play ‘Pac – can’t carry the role: he has his mannerisms down pat, and in one scene in the trailer in particular where ‘Pac is onstage, Shipp’s resemblance to the belated rapper is uncanny.
