Philly’s Boone watches his “Pop A Perc” get a bit of extended life via a remix with French Montana & E-40.

At the end of 2015, Philly rapper Boone had a bit of a viral hit with “Pop A Perc” with a bootleg video to match. Yesterday on OVO Sound Radio in the middle of a flurry of new music, Drake showed love to the Philly rapper by premiering the West Coast remix to “Pop A Perc” with French Montana & E-40. Boone sticks to the original beat with that sing-song nasally flow of his, French apes a bit of the original by applying bars from LL Cool J’s “I Need Love” in and 40 Water flips on and off between Bay Area slang and his usual game talk. The remix should do wonders for Boone considering the timeliness of it (a free Bobby Shmurda bar never hurt anybody) and how eternal Eazy-E’s “Boyz N The Hood” instrumental has been for the last 30 years.
