St. Beauty x Kitty Cash - Holographic Lover

Two things immediately stand out about “Holographic Lover,” the newest single from Wondaland Records’ duo St. Beauty. The first, is that the song proves Alexe Belle and Isis Valentino haven’t missed a beat since their star turn on last year’s The Eephus compilation by way of their “Going Nowhere” single. The second, is that Kitty Cash was responsible for premiering it. The lovely L.A. part time-model, part-time-tastemaker, full-time DJ often only “premieres” tracks as part of her Love The Free mixtape series. “Holographic Lover,” it turns out, is the first drop from Cash’s upcoming third (and potentially final) edition of Love The Free.

Discussing “Holographic Lover” with NYLON Magazine, who premiered the track, St. Beauty said, “Everyone believes in love… They may be able to see it, but sometimes this love isn’t within their reach almost as if it’s holographic.” Alexe and Isis’s voices float beautifully over the slow-burning single’s tapping synths, aiming to describe a sensation that is better felt than articulated. “Funny, how we fell into place,” St. Beauty sing seductively, “Honey, cannot compare to this taste.” It’s pure seduction and, like love itself sometimes, almost seems to end too abruptly for its three-minute runtime.
