Before we even realized it, James Blake had surprised us with his full-length third album, The Colour In Anything. The UK singer & producer had released various singles to BBC Radio 1 such as “Modern Soul” in February and three other tracks to Annie Mac earlier today. With Blake, The Colour In Anything was never a matter of if but when. Blake revealed to BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac right after the premiere of three TCIA tracks “Radio Silence”, “I Need A Forest Fire” & “My Willing Heart”.

“I guess we grow another few years older and a little bit wiser and learn and document,” Blake told Annie Mac. “It’s my life that’s changed, not the process.”

For The Colour In Anything, Blake turned to a little outside help, in the form of Rick Rubin.”I did some sessions with Rick Rubin just to get a sense of what it would be like for someone else to man the controls a little bit,” Blake said.

Blake recently worked on Beyoncé’s Lemonade, adding vocals to “Forward” and The Colour In Anything features Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon (“I Need A Forest Fire”) as well as an assist from Frank Ocean & Rubin. You can purchase the new James Blake album now on iTunes and stream the 17-track album in full via Apple Music or Spotify.
