DC’s ‘Batman: The Killing Joke’ Animated Film Finally Has a Trailer Bradford J. Howard April 27, 2016 Trailers, TV/Movies “All it takes is one bad day.” While Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice was critically polarizing but an absolute blockbuster of a film, the film found itself slightly overshadowed by two other DC projects in the works: the upcoming LEGO: Batman Movie, which won’t release until next year; and the animated adaptation of Alan Moore’s celebrated graphic novel, Batman: The Killing Joke, which arrives this fall after much delay. Over the last few months, DC has dropped off morsels and tidbits of what’s to come – the fact that the usual suspects (Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamill as The Clown Prince of Crime) will be back, for example; and all but boasting that the animated flick will bear an “R” rating. On Tuesday, Batman: The Killing Joke saw its debut official trailer land on the internets, and it gives viewers a glimpse of the graphic violence and “disturbing content” that earned the film its mature rating. Shots of The Joker’s infamous shooting of Barbara Gordon, his goons kidnapping Commissioner Gordon and adorning him in S&M gear, and of The Caped Crusader pushed to his very ends pop up in the trailer’s nearly two-minute length.
