There’s a week left until the month of May, and that means the countdown is officially on for the release of The Heart Speaks in Whispers, Corinne Bailey Rae’s third studio album. The London-born songbird’s return to the music in nearly half a decade is greatly anticipated, and Corinne has done her part to keep the buzz going by dropping a new release every month. “Been To The Moon” kicked things off in February, and “Green Aphrodisiac” kept the momentum alive in March.

On Friday, the singer released track two of The Heart Speaks, “Hey, I Won’t Break Your Heart,” to the public. The nearly five-minute ballad blends the lonely strums of a guitar and a steady high-hat, over which Bailey Rae’s voice starts off soft but gradually grows stronger, much like the instrumentation itself. In the song, Corinne laments her lover but insists that she’s not yet given up on him or them as a couple. “Love is more hesitant, a second time,” Corrine sings, acknowledging her past hurt but also reflecting that she’s more prepared to open her heart this time around.
