Jade de LaFleur - Come And See Me

Since its release last month, Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s “Come And See Me” late night creep track has been a certified R&B playlist addition. But imagine if you could hear the song from the other side – as one of the women Drake and PARTY sing about.

For her first audio drop of 2016 – following her “Active” single last year – Jade De LaFleur offers up her own take “Come And See Me.” The Brooklyn-residing, PVAMU-made songbird’s intent to is to provide the woman’s perspective, to hold the man in her life accountable, and it burns slowly and digs deep. Even still, her vocals are irresistibly seductive throughout. De LaFleur retains most of the hook from PARTY and Drake’s original, saving her more obvious changes for the verses themselves. In the final verse, for example, Jade sing-raps and pleads her demands (“When it rains, can you be my umbrella?”) with an island-esque inflection in her voice.
