Early Sunday, HBO shared the full trailer for Beyoncé’s “Lemonade”. It premieres on the network at 9 PM EST / 6 PT on April 23. Watch it below.

What exactly is “Lemonade” you ask? For all we know it’s a brand new song & music video from Beyoncé in the same way that “Formation” dropped the day before the Super Bowl. There have been months of rumors and speculation in regards to when her album will drop especially considering that her Formation World Tour starts in a little less than 9 days. What the BeyHive didn’t learn in terms of patience from Beyonce‘s surprise roll out, they still are trying to figure out nearly three full years later.

On Saturday, the first glimpses of “Lemonade” surfaced via Beyoncé’s Instagram account and HBO’s YouTube channel. The video shows Beyoncé wearing a plush fur coat with long blonde braids and an ominous tone droning over all of it. Near the end we hear her voice question, “What am I gonna do love? What am I gonna do?” The screen goes black and reveals one word: “Lemonade.”

The full trailer is a bit more action packed with glimpses of a parking garage, her fury and anger smashing a New Orleans Police Department surveillance camera, flames trailing her as she walks the streets of the unique Southern city and more. Tribal face paint on dancers in a street car, red hues draped over her body in an empty house. It’s all so much and in a minute’s runtime, the full trailer feels like it’s leading to either an exorcism or Beyoncé completely letting go and owning something.

Maybe we’re thinking a bit too deep into it, maybe not. Whatever it is, Beyoncé is obviously smarter than what you think she is. The more she gives us, the more likely we’re wanting even more. After the release of her Ivy Park line last week, fans are still wondering, even though she gave Elle her first actual interview in over three years.

“Lemonade” has us thinking – where exactly does Beyoncé go next?
