Snoh Aalegra - Don't Explain-cover

At long last, Snoh Aalegra finally has an LP to her name.

Okay, it’s actually a mini-album, but that doesn’t make the release of Snoh Aalegra’s Don’t Explain project any less monumental. Her first collective body of work since her There Will Be Sunshine EP last year and her debut long-player under Artium Records, Don’t Explain will serve as the first introduction to many for those who only know of Snoh by her features and not her own talents. New listeners are in luck, however – Snoh has put up Don’t Explain on Spotify to stream in full for free.

Nine tracks deep, Don’t Explain: A Mini-Album clocks in at about twenty six minutes in length and is propelled forward by lead single “In Your River.” Production comes from the likes of Christian Rich, Boi-1da, Sam Dew, DJ Dahi, No I.D., and more. James Fauntleroy serves as the mini-album’s only feature, on the drum-driven smooth cut “Charleville 9200.” What stands out most about the project is how cinematic and classic it all feels – nearly any song on the mini-LP could be a “Bond song” of sorts, from the scaled-back title track to the bluesy “Under the Influence part II”; and the intro and outro have dialogue backed by dramatic sweeping strings all but lifted from a Turner Classic Movie re-run.
