Big Sean - Get My Sh-t Together

There’s special significance for this particular G.O.O.D Friday for Big Sean. Yes, it’s also literally Good Friday, the last Friday of Lent before Easter. But it also marks the Detroit rapper’s 28th birthday. But the man born Sean Michael Anderson was in a giving mood, it seems.

Thus it was, in the last hour of the day that Big Sean released a new loosie, “Get My Shit Together.”

Recruiting Tommy Brown and Mr. Franks on the beat, it’s safe to say that “Get My Shit Together” isn’t a single so much as it is sobering reflections on wax. Over the song’s four-minute length, Sean confronts fears both imagined (“I had a dream I died at 30, n*gga!”) and real (“I been choosing the wrong girls my whole life/ I hope I don’t fail the test again, and have her going through my texts again”), and even makes a clever reference to huge odds by citing facing the Undertaker at WrestleMania. His flow comes off almost Drake-esque in places; but it’s a moment of honesty in the vein of “One Man Can Change the World” and “Win Some Lose Some,” though it goes deeper still.
