Kendrick Lamar rules supreme. The Compton, CA rapper continued his successful 2016 with his surprise album, untitled unmastered debuting at the summit of the Billboard 200. The album compiled 178,000 equivalent album sales in the week ending March 10th. 142,000 of those sales were pure album sales. Released without much notice given by Top Dawg Entertainment CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, the set included eight previously unreleased Lamar songs taken from some of his live performances promoting To Pimp A Butterfly over the last two years.

untitled unmastered marks the second time K Dot has held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 charts. Tomorrow (March 15) marks the one year anniversary of To Pimp A Butterfly and that album took in 368,000 equivalent album sales (324,000 pure album sales) to debut at No. 1 in March 2015. He should hold the spot next week as physical copies of untitled unmastered hit stores.

Among the other notable releases from the March 3rd release frame include 2 Chainz & Lil Wayne’s Collegrove project. The album landed at No. 5 with 53,000 units sold (34,000 pure album sales). The physical release for Collegrove will occur on March 25 with both edited and explicit versions hitting retailers.
