Tink - Circle the Block

Tink’s up to something. It may seem like the Chicago emcee who Timbaland took under his wing has been quiet since last year, after being named to XXL’s 2015 Freshman Class, her “Million” single breaking radiowaves, and releasing her R&B-and-rap tape Winter’s Diary 2, but make no mistake – just because the moves can’t be seen, that doesn’t mean they aren’t being made.

Case in point: Tink’s newest single, “Circle the Block,” which released on Tuesday. It’s unclear whether “Circle the Block” is intended to tide over fans still lying in wait for Tink’s Think Tink debut LP; or to issue warning to any and all who’ve put a target on her.

Over the most booming of bass and rapid-fire synths courtesy of producer DJ Wes, Tink spends nearly three minutes talking sh*t with a blistering delivery. She hears the rumors, she hears herself mentioned in others’ mouths (“Rap niggas keep sneak dissin’,” Tink observes); though Tink doesn’t name names, there’s a reason for that – she won’t let haters distract her. Indeed, “Circle the Block” feels like jabs rather than haymakers… with the promise that Tink won’t be so nice the next time around.
