Gallant - Ology-cover

Gallant is coming for the sleeper of the year title in 2016.

The Los Angeles crooner and affiliate of Mind of A Genius already has cosigns from two very well-known industry heads in James Fauntleroy and Jhene Aiko. Both have also worked with Gallant, on the artist’s previous releases “Borderline” and the stirring “Skipping Stones,” respectively. Today, the self-anointed “alt-R&B” singer not only announced a release date for his debut album, Ology; but celebrated the news by releasing a brand new single, “Bourbon.”

Riding over smooth drums and an even smoother bassline, “Bourbon” sounds like ’80s-era R&B, its beat pulsing and reverberating at every turn. It’s a perfect complement to Gallant’s falsetto, which makes itself heard even over the sweeping instrumentation. The tale the singer tells, however, is bleak: “I’m just another stone on broken walls,” Gallant insists, “Racing the wind in a hurricane – I’m not as brave, as I once was.” “Bourbon” is tragic, but it sounds so good.

Gallant’s Ology LP, on which “Bourbon” appears, releases April 6th. You can check out Ology’s official tracklist down below and pre-order the album on iTunes now.
