Lil Will, the Shortstop Records artist who scored most of his fame while appearing on the 1998 hit “Wanna Be A Baller” died last week in a car accident. The news was confirmed by multiple sources including T2, son of Shortstop Records label head Lil Troy.

The accident occurred February 12th as Lil’ Will was driving in a vehicle in Southeast Houston. That’s when according to news reports he lost control of the car, hit several trees and flipped the vehicle. The vehicle was then ablaze as on-lookers and fellow drivers stopped to pull him out of the wreckage but he was dead on impact.

“Daaaammmnnn!! A real #playa gon be #missed,” T2 wrote on Instagram. Other reports on the internet indicated that it was Lil Troy himself who perished in the car accident but that came to be untrue.

Lil’ Will appeared on two of Lil Troy’s records on Sittin’ Fat Down South, the 1998 album that went on to sell 1.9 million copies, “Small Time” with Scarface & Lil’ 2-Low and the aforementioned “Wanna Be A Baller” where Lil’ Will followed Fat Pat’s verse.
